Charetta is a female-fronted alternative rock band from New York City. The band unofficially began in January 2007 when Pablo LaFrossia (guitar) and Adonis Sanchez (drums) - both veterans of the New York City rock scene, decided to start a new project. They soon started searching for a singer for the new, un-named project on the internet. That search began and ended quickly with the discovery of Angelina Del Carmen (vocals), who had recently relocated to New York City from her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. The three immediately began writing new material and they performed their first official live performance as the group Charetta in June 2007. After an exhaustive audition process, the band finally completed their lineup in October 2007 by adding Long Island, New York native Richard Mollo (bass). The band developed their style quickly, and in December 2007 they recorded their self-titled EP with producer Brett Hestla – best known for his work with Dark New Day (vocals), Creed (bass) & Framing Hanley (producer).
Charetta released their self-titled EP in March 2008 and began an active performance schedule in and around the New York City metropolitan area. Their powerful live shows and unique musical style quickly created a buzz and helped them make a mark on the New York music scene. In May 2008, they were invited to perform as a showcase artist at the Florida Music Festival in Orlando, FL and received rave reviews from the fans and industry professionals in attendance. Charetta’s sound can be described as groove and bottom-heavy, blending passion and aggression with hook-driven melodies. The band has been compared to the likes of Chevelle, Deftones, Evanescence, Dark New Day & Sevendust, yet their style is extremely original and distinct.
Charetta recently released their first full length album entitled “Defying the Inevitable”, also produced by Brett Hestla. With songs like “You Prevail” and “Never”, the music appeals to rock fans and non-rock fans alike.

Release:
“This hard rocking band features a dynamic and strong female lead singer, almost along the lines of an Evanescene, but far more powerful in her vocals. I’ve got to see a full set from this band – they are high on my list of impressive local bands.” – Mike Ferrari, Aural Fix (April 2009)
“The three song EP is a polished piece of work featuring strong, clear production and solid songwriting. The music they write is catchy and enjoyable without sounding too commercial or generic.” – Mortuai, Femme Metal (January 2009)
"Fueled with frustration and adrenaline, the band pulled off an awesome set. You could say that they were getting up close and personal with the audience. If you did not have a chance to catch this band live, then it is highly recommended that you do." – RadioJ, Aural Fix (December 2008)
"What an awesome, awesome sound. I love Charetta, they are absolutely brilliant. Those vocals are haunting and powerful. I am loving it!!!!”
– DJ Beerman, Top Rock Radio (October 2008)
“There was an intensely powerful female voice echoing off the brick walls so I tried to politely plow my way through the bar patrons and was happy to catch the NYC band Charetta. There were quite a few fans lined up in the front despite the band being from out of town, and I'm sure that on top of the straight forward rock her band was pumping out, Angelina being as beautiful as she is attracted some new fans.”
- Alicia Lyman, Orlando Metromix (May 2008)
