Blank Tape has been together since 2004 when they played their first show at the Walther C. Young Middle School talent show. After a few months of playing local parties, the lineup was cemented with the addition of drummer Alan Penton and guitarist "Fonzie" Sandler .
Consisting of Lennon Livesay (vocals/guitar), Fonzie Sandler (guitar/vocals) Efrain Lopez (bass) and Alan Penton (drums/vocals), Blank Tape is a band in the true sense of the word. They go to school together, hang out together and write songs together.
In the spring of 2006, and still in middle school, they won the City of Pembroke Pines sponsored "Battle of the Bands" winning a slot opening for country star Josh Turner at Pines Day.
On May 6, 2007 Blank Tape won the battle of the bands at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center after placing 3rd the previous year.
Their shows at the Talent Farm in Pembroke Pines have broken records.
On Sunday, January 28th, 2007, at Club Cinema in Pompano Beach, Blank Tape performed as the opening act at The Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert . This show featured The Romantics and Johnny Depp as well as local bands from the late 70's reuniting for charity. This concert was made into a rock documentary film that was featured at both the Palm Beach Film Festival and the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival.
On Friday, August 29th, 2008, at Club Cinema in Pompano Beach, Blank Tape was invited back to perform as the opening act at The Sheila Witkin Memorial Reunion Concert 2, featuring the same headliners as the first show. This show resulted in an article in Spin Magazine in the Fall of 2008.
Blank Tape makes fun honest and catchy music. That's all there is to it! They've opened shows for The Academy Is... (Atlantic Records), Fireworks (Triple Crown Records), Select Start (All About Records), Secret Lives! of The Freemasons (Victory), Fallen From The Sky (Eulogy), as well as country star Josh Turner and classic rock icons The Romantics.
Now, with the release of their first full length CD "When The Sun Goes Down" Blank Tape, is cementing their reputation in the South Florida music scene.
