Often described as a modern version of classic rock, this Atlanta quartet prides itself on the special connection they are able to make with people of all types. For more than seven years traditional and not so traditional music fans alike have been drawn to the band's ability to deliver music that is positive but not preachy, while clearly coming from the heart. Perhaps it is the soulful rock melodies, sharp songwriting and searching lyrics that refreshingly touch on relatable themes such as personal accountability, social commentary and communication that has attracted 5si's uniquely supportive and enthusiastic fan base.

"It's all about people," says Alan Schaefer, Five Star Iris's lead singer and songwriter. "To make such a profound difference in other's lives by simply doing what we love makes us luckier than most. It's certainly something we try hard not to take for granted," he adds. This theme is expanded on in the band's beautifully orchestrated song "Luckiest Man" which is a song near and dear to the band's heart and was written after Schaefer's father underwent quintuple bypass surgery. "While in recovery, my father told me that he spoke to a voice and asked why he was so lucky. Why was he still here? That experience had a profound emotional affect on me and in dealing with those emotions the song practically wrote itself," says Schaefer.

As independent artists the band has had the opportunity to do some pretty major things. The last year produced a number of milestones for the humble but hard working group. Multiple appearances on national television combined with articles in both Spin and Billboard Magazines really helped the bands national presence.
