Take a moment, and a deep breath... Take a sip of fine wine... turn your ear
to the sound of Steve Mosto.
A longtime underground musical artist of New York City (The Back Fence,
Kenny's Castaways, Uncle Mike's, The Trash Bar, Sidewalk Café, Sun Mountain
Café), Steve's music continues to pay homage to the legacy of some of the
strongest male vocalists of our time. Sting, Bono, Elton John, Phil Collins,
Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel... listen and you will see that he
is unwilling to compromise The Vision. The Integrity. It's all here.
Trained in New York City classically on keys and vocals, Mosto's new works
highlight his continued ability to crossover stylistically from classic to
contemporary rock and pop trends. His captivating, powerful and yet sensual
vocals fill the current void on the charts for male vocalists with flair and
sophistication. Again, it's all here.
Cuts from the latest project promise the integrity of a finely vintaged wine.
Seasoned classic rock and pop artists lend their expertise to round out this
truly ground breaking Steve Mosto experience. Contributions from the likes of
Vernon Reid on guitar (Living Colour), Tom Morello on guitar (Audioslave, Rage
Against the Machine) and the infamous Lemmy Kilmister on vocals (Motorhead),
Queen V, vocals, Tristan Avakian also on guitar (Loren Hill, Cirque du Soleil,
Queen's "We will Rock You,") Chris Altenhoff on bass (Trans Siberian Orchestra)
and Stu Richards on drums (Queen V) all add depth to each of the tracks. Rounded
off with final production touches by Ron Saint Germain, (311, Living Color, Bad
Brains, Creed, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix) for a truly full bodied and robust
after glow.
Some of the key songs of the latest project reach down into some very
personal territory, while challenging the very limited boundaries of modern
popular music. Steve's latest offerings challenge standard genre-typing,
straddling the line between classic rock and pop; a place rarely explored by a
singer/songwriter in today's very "formula" commercial environment.
Walk Away, the leading single (set for summer 2009 release) finds its source
close to home: "It's a song about facing realities, good and bad. It's about
getting real... honest with yourself... and being willing to start over,” says
Mosto.
Not in Love demonstrates Mosto's appetite for passion and intensity. It
double entendres the case for wanting to experience love beyond the superficial;
a love with deep, intense and intricate layers. "It takes you down a path which
explores possibility yet undefined."
Finally, It's the Question. The Question that binds us... Steve reaches his
most tenuous moments on the deeply emotional Do You Wanna Run, a song about “the
need to escape when you just can’t cope anymore. But maybe, just maybe, it's
worth it to stay.”
Steve Mosto's followers continue to have opportunities in the New York
Metropolitan Area to sample live performances with the release of his latest
single, Walk Away.
