Chris Dukes is an exciting and gifted multi-talented singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. His music appeals to a wide audience because, as Chris says, “my love lies with music itself and not within a specific genre.
Born in Albany, New York, and raised nearby in the small town of Voorheesville, Chris Dukes started writing music and singing at an early age. In order to record his music and ideas as he heard them, Chris became proficient at playing various instruments. Over time, Chris molded his original writing style into songs filled with catchy hooks, poignant lyrics and creative counter-melodies as heard in his new album, “Greater Than Me.”
Over the years Chris has had the pleasure of playing alongside a very talented cast of musicians. His present band is made up of new and old friends, and according to Chris, is “his most exiting line up yet.” Chris and his band regularly perform in clubs and theaters across the northeast.
Chris Dukes has sung on various corporate songs and commercials for companies like General Electric, Kodak, F.Y.E., and “The Home Depot Anthem.”
Chris is drawn to anything containing melody and harmony. His musical influences range through a broad spectrum which is clearly noticeable in his songs. One can sense the emotion and feeling in his voice. His singing, vocal styling, and delivery in “Greater Than Me” is the definitive statement of what real music is.

Always Records announces the release of the new album "Greater Than Me" from singer and songwriter Chris Dukes. Greater Than Me features all original material from the Voorheesville New York native who has performed at area venues including Albany’s Tulip Festival, Jillian’s of Albany, Castaway’s in Ithaca, Binghamton University, Lost Dog in Binghamton along with Sullivan Hall in Manhattan, The Blue Bird Café in Nashville. Dukes and his band have also appeared at many other clubs, festivals and events throughout the Northeast. Chris’ signature style of catchy melodies combined with poignant lyrics creates a unique mating of entertainment and emotion that listeners quickly connect with.
One of Chris’ desires with his original music is to have people see themselves in his songs. Rather than simply creating material that has a commercial viability to it, his debut album Greater Than Me offers everyone a collection of songs all driven by hopes, challenges, recovery, joy and celebration. It’s the music that’s given Chris Dukes the gift of a large following of loyal fans who know that all of his music is a realistic view of life experiences. It’s a style that gives Chris Dukes a mass appeal that eludes so many in the music industry.
Chris Dukes’ debut album Greater Than Me, in addition to the title track, contains songs which by their titles alone reveal the emotional journey the album takes listeners on. Cuts such as Fallen Down and Walk of Shame conjure up images of life’s more challenging times when we never think we’ll find our way through them. The songs After the Flood and Heaven are built on the drive and spirit that everyone wants to find within themselves that inspires...
Chris Dukes has been writing and performing for sixteen years. His main belief is that music is an enormously powerful inanimate object. Dukes wants his music to be a comfort zone for people who are searching for ways and paths through their tough and challenging times. Chris says, “Music has been there on more than one occasion for me. If I can help people through times like that with my music it would be the greatest feeling of accomplishment for me.”
Description: In this day and age of increasingly disposable music it is refreshing to hear artists such as Chris Dukes. Chris writes songs that express real feelings, and performs those songs with a compelling passion.
