Talent was never a problem for Cane Murphy aka. Redrum. Tragedy is another story however. "Schooly D" one of HipHop's Pioneer's asked Redrum to come on stage with him, after he started beatboxing and freestlying with him back stage in Philly at a Music convention when Redrum was going under the name "Mekanizm" in 1998 when he was just 17 years old.

Redrum a.k.a. Cane Murphy grew up in Stapleton, Staten island (Shaolin) and moved to section 8 housing in South beach where he was notorious for beatboxing & Sparking Freestyle cyphers on street corners. Downing 40 bottles of Old English, Murphy was known for his Irish wit & comedic story telling. He turned to bombing the Streets with Graffiti to the point he was a wanted man by the Graff task force. In high speed chases with the police , Murphy was later picked up in a Narcotics sweep at the infamous South Beach Arcade for Hustling. He gave up everything in life and stepped into the Rap Game.

The Rapper Paid his dues in New York's Underground Rap scene performing over two hundred times at open mics, showcases, battles and every where in between to make a name for himself. He toured around the United States with Grammy Award winning Recording Artist and Guitarist -"Vernon Reid" & D.J Logic. Cane was one of the few rappers picked to perform in the first ever "Bronx Fest" with Hot 97 in atendence. Along with being on Mixtapes from D.JVlad , "Bedtyme 357", Coast2Coast Mixtapes. He's also been featured in Canada's "Peace Magazine", "Juniors Cave", "Music notes", and he invested his own money to have his story in XXL magazine's dec,Jan & February issues.

In 2010 Cane Murphy is Featured on Several Mixtapes, including Mixtapes Hosted by "DJ Khaled", Coast2Coast Mixtape 115, DJ Smoke "Showcase 75". After surviving a Tragic accident and Reconstructive spine operation, Redrum aka.Cane Murphy is Now putting out his Debut Album "The Side You Don't See" May of 2010 with production from Platinum producers "Rocwilder" and D12's "Mr. Porter"...

Press Release:   Rapper's uphill battle and fight to survive is inspirational
- It isn't uncommon to hear about Hip Hop artists surviving the streets to go on and become notorious rappers. Whats unique about this Story is the rapper's struggle to survive a reconstructive spine operation with titanium screws and rods drilled into his spine.. Cane Murphy aka REDRUM made a name for himself in New York's Underground Rap Scene. He's been featured in numerous mixtapes and rap magazines including DJ Vlad's "Rock Star Blends" and "Coast2Coast Mixtape 115" , Rap Fanatic magazine, Juniors Cave and more.. After delivering over 200 performances at open mics, showcases and battles, Murphy joined Grammy Award winning Artist and Guitarist Vernon Reid and DJ Logic on a nationwide tour.

Known as a story telling rapper, Murphy uses street anthems, clever metaphors and word play to paint his unique view on life. As a child, he grew up surrounded by poverty in Section 8 housing in NYC. At a young age he got into beatboxing and freestyle cyphers During his teenage years he made a name for himself with local law enforcement as a graffiti artist, hustler and general nuisance. His reputation as a graffiti artist and bomber landed him on the most wanted list by New York's Graffiti Task Force. Instead of becoming a statistic and spending the rest of his life on the wrong side of the law, however, Cane Murphy picked himself up by the bootstraps, sacrificed everything he knew and set out to make a name for himself on the NYC rap scene.

While performing late night at club "Zipcode" in Harlem N.Y, Cane Murphy's lyrical ability caught the attention of an A&R from Def Jam and Universal Music Group who said "he hasn't heard a lyricist like that since KRSone and Rakim". He gave REDRUM his business card and set up a meeting and Red's break into mainstream seemed just weeks away when he suffered a spine crushing injury which left him with broken screws and rods in his back, with over 30 trips in and out of Hospitals for the next 11 months and needing a second reconstructive spine operation. Overcoming debilitating pain Murphy hit the studio and finished his Debut album and filmed for his first video. With an uphill battle ahead of him , a lot of heart and will to survive, Cane Murphy is determined to get his music out to the fans worldwide.
