Ana Guigui (that’s “gui” as in “gui-tar”), a solo-artist hailing from NYC, is an accomplished singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and actress, and is also classically trained on the piano, flute and viola. Born to Argentinean parents, Ana hails from a family of music professionals – her father, Efrain Guigui, was a world-renowned symphony orchestra conductor, and her mother, Elena, is a former operatic soprano. Her brother, Martin, is a musician, music producer, screenwriter and independent feature film director, also living in Los Angeles.

Ana has been a professional musician, singer, songwriter, and actress for the past 25 years, and went back to school where she received a Master of Arts degree in Opera in the Spring of 2009. Ana will continue her education this Fall at USC where she received a scholarship to pursue a doctorate in Opera. This definitely sets Ana apart from other touring/professional musicians since she is classically and formally trained in a university/academic setting in advanced degrees.

Ana supplemented her formal musical training with writing and recording her own, original music, releasing her debut album Forever in 2002. The well-received release is an electric combination of pop songs that crossed the genres of country to R&B.

With her latest project, Love Is On The Line, being released on September 14th, 2010 and produced by Andrew Gold, Ana changes rhythms and showcases her extraordinary vocal control with full emotional range.

The new long-awaited album has finally been scheduled after Ana spent seven years touring as a keyboardist and vocalist with Christopher Cross. During that time, Ana also performed live and recorded music with various artists including Ben Folds, AMERICA, Andrew Gold, Stephen Bishop, Juan Gabriel, Chip Taylor, Jon Secada, Deborah Gibson, Chip Taylor, and Bo Bice.

In addition to her recording, Ana also wrote, self-produced, and performed a six-week run of her one-woman show, God Box, at the Actors Forum Theatre in North Hollywood with the support of a generous grant from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. God Box received the 2009 Valley Theatre League Artistic Director Achievement Award for Best One-Person Play or Musical. Originally directed by Richard Kline (Larry on Three’s Company), God Box is an autobiographical musical comedy set in the piano lounge at the Doubletree Hotel in Los Angeles.

Ana is also an accomplished professional actress with extensive stage, film, and television credits, including The Sopranos, Strong Medicine, JAG, Changing Hearts, Swing, and a recurring role on ABC’s General Hospital. She performed in the US National Tour of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, and was featured Off-Broadway in Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding.

In addition to all of this Ana teaches commercial voice and jazz piano at Cal/Polytechnic University/Pomona, and also teaches Musical Theater at the Lee Strasberg Institute in West Hollywood.

Press Release:   Ana Guigui (that’s “gui” as in “gui-tar”), releases her latest project, Love Is On The Line, on September 14th, 2010 and produced by Andrew Gold.

The CD is a fun blend of pop, R&B, and clever songwriting, featuring Ana Guigui on lead vocals with obvious Andrew Gold production ideas, laced with his fun guitar styling’s and layered background vocal parts.

Ana still can’t believe that she got to work with one of her pop music idols. “My dream was coming true! I would be co-writing several songs with Andrew and he would be producing the CD, from start to finish!”

“I listen to the eclectic and varied genres of each song, the care with which each vocal track was treated, and the details that Andrew created, highlighted, and brought out in each instrumental part, and I am blown away by the level of ingenuity, originality, and heart this album possesses.

Two years in the making and much sweat, tears, laughter, and even more discipline and commitment invested we were, both, VERY elated with our final results as we un-shrink-wrapped our first copy of Love is on the Line”.

Top of the line L.A. studio musicians tracking live at Blue Palm Studios in Burbank, including Matt Laug on drums, Bob Glaub on bass, Mark Goldenberg on guitar, Jon Gilutin on piano, Luis Conte on percussion, David Woodford on saxophone, Andrew Gold on Hammond organ, guitar, piano, and vocals, and Val Garay as our recording engineer insured a solid, classic sound, and a level of talent, creative style, and innovative input that would surpass our expectations.
