Nominated for Dance Artist of the Year, K'SANDRA unveils Light’n’Dark
Wednesday, 18 May 2011
K'SANDRA has found her audience by helping them get lost. Lost in the music the way listeners used to get lost in Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin songs.
"I admire how they found a groove to put themselves into a trance, losing track of all space and time around them," K'SANDRA says.
Her inspiration came when she decided to put that rock feel together with dance. In her music, unstoppable beats combine with a rock'n'roll sensibility in a way that takes listeners on a journey that pulls them into the moment and keeps them there. The music sneaks into your ears at the same time it moves up from your feet, and meets in the middle. The result is pure K'SANDRA - music for the mind, body and heart.
She's not all about happy feet. There is a sadness, a depth in her music that tinges the celebration with longing. Her music embraces the full experience of being human - the happy and the sad, the joyful and the melancholy, the stillness of peace and the restless movement of the body compelled by a relentless beat. It's the kind of music you relate to more than listen to. "It is all about the magic that is left in people's memories once you are gone and your music lives on," she says.
All these paradoxes are captured in her new album "Light'n'Dark". Think Lady Gaga meets the Doors. Think Kiss meets Kylie Minogue. Think about the appeal of pop and dance with a rock'n'roll heart. Her titles include "Finger on the Trigger", "Gossip" and "Push the Girl". And to prove she's not just a Gaga-come-lately, her album will include her spoken-word poetry. This is a true artist, not a mere flash in the pan.
She comes from a background of discipline and commitment, qualities she developed while studying at a classical conservatory. She studied music, singing and ballet, all the while developing her punk rock and rave personal style. The battle between the sublime and the sultry meant that she would inevitably leave the classical world for the club world, but the two influences join together immaculately in "Light'n'Dark". She is a disciplined rebel.
K'SANDRA is building bridges between genres and, judging by her international fan base, also between countries. She is building a career that promises to smash through the barriers of radio formats, the boundaries of style, and the expectations of the restless modern listener.
"Light'n'Dark" features tracks written by a Natasha Bedingfield/ Beyonce/ Keri Hilson writer and a Slash/Fergie producer as well as producers that worked with Snoop Dogg and Usher. But don't forget her strongest influence: K'SANDRA herself. She is a one-woman dynamo, artist and entrepreneur. There is only one word that describes her.

Release:
K'SANDRA will be headlining this year's Teen Music Summit, which raises funds for Project Kindle, a charity for kids whose lives are affetced by AIDS. The kids voted for who they wanted to play at their event this year, and K'SANDRA received more votes than any other artist.
"Finger on the Trigger", the first hit single from her forth-coming album "Light'n'Dark" (coming 11/11/11), has just been nominated Best Pop Single at the LA Music Awards, and is already impacting UK radio and holding the #2 chart position on a popular fan-request program, and in the US just moved to #38 on ReverbNation, making her the first indie artist to break the Top 40!
K'SANDRA recently performed at the LA Fashion Week, as well as a star-studded pre-Grammy event, and is also this year's nominee for Dance Artist of the Year at the LA Music Awards. Her new band project Audoria is currently ranked #1 in Pop and #16 overall in Los Angeles for the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, and as a result was just invited to play 3 stops of the 2011 Van's Warped Tour.
Here's your chance to "discover" this rising star before she breaks in a big way, and introduce your audience to something they will surely love you for!
