Roll Acosta will embark on a self-funded 6 city tour beginning June 03, 2011

Tucson, Arizona for people who watch too many Hollywood pictures can seem like the kind of place that sparks vivid imagery of a scorching desert, perhaps a broken-down truck on the side of a highway, saguaro cactus or masked bandits. But Tucson boasts a music scene packed with artists who take inspiration from that harsh landscape and turn it into something gritty, rife with distorted guitars and electronic sounds. It is one of the most eclectic spreads of musical creativity in the southwest.
It would be easy to lump Roll Acosta in with other major talent from the Tucson region, but front man and vocalist Jacob Acosta’s vision for the band goes far beyond the city limit posts. Jake’s original idea for Roll Acosta was to keep it a solo project. After releasing three self-produced albums, Acosta searched Southern Arizona to employ the help of fellow area musicians, mandolin player and violinist Kevin Frederick and drummer André Gressieux, to flesh out the songs from their most basic form into a refreshing, orchestral sound.
With the new artist additions and deeper arrangements, the new sound reaches beyond raw talents, and rises into chart-topping, big label territory. Acosta’s Robert Smith meets Andrew Bird vocals become a canvas to Frederick’s soaring voice on the strings, and Gressieux’s driving pulse. The result is a grand endeavor that even Roll Acosta may not have foreseen while behind the glass walls at Wavelab Studio with Craig Schumacher.
The Dawn EP kicks off with “Beating On the Door,” where Acosta’s self-deprecating lyrics dance with Frederick’s playful strings and Gressieux’s solid groove. “Whirlwinds” is an ambient piece that alludes to divine intervention. Title track “The Dawn” is exemplary of Acosta’s songwriting. Simple in its goal, “The Dawn” strikes with genuine heart. The ballad “Not Alone” wraps up the four-song disc, where Acosta stands alone in the spaces, reaching out to a lost friend. Frederick’s solo punctuates the final lament,
an ode to the ones we’ve lost.

Release:
Roll Acosta will embark on a self-funded 6 city tour beginning June 03, 2011. The Indie Pop trio from Tucson will be touring to promote their current release, The Dawn EP. The band also plans to release their latest offering, The Dark EP exclusively to audiences attending these 6 concert dates.
Roll Acosta's 2011 Summer Tour will give audiences outside the greater Tucson and Phoenix areas their first chance to see the band live. "We've amassed quite an impressive following in these cities," says violinist Kevin Frederick. "It just made sense to go to these towns and play for our fans. The Dark EP will be an added bonus." While The Dark EP may be considered a follow-up to last July's The Dawn, it really isn't an all new direction for the band. "This isn't a new studio album. These are songs we just really wanted to record and get out of our system", remarks front man Jacob Acosta. "These songs are lounge-like, super tragic and in a word...dark." The new songs were recorded live at Wavelab Studios in Tucson, AZ--the same studio where the band recorded The Dawn.
Since releasing The Dawn EP, Roll Acosta has been playing constantly in venues around Tucson and Phoenix. The track Not Alone was selected for the Zia Record Exchange You Heard Us Back When Vol.5 Local music compilation, available in Tucson, Phoenix and Las Vegas. Roll Acosta has also performed on KGUN 9 Television's The Morning Blend and KXCI Locals Only Radio Program. The band also opened up for national recording artist, Carbon Leaf.
