Progressive Metal Band Ana Kefr New release, "The Burial Tree (II)"
Friday, 27 May 2011
"Doing something original when the most commercially viable option is to do exactly the opposite requires large testicles and a strong sense of identity." - Metal Hammer (on Ana Kefr)
In an era branded by a loss of aesthetic innovation, the pioneer is both a god and a fool. And while pundits shout that 'there is nothing new under the sun,' Ana Kefr pushes towards the outside in search of the undiscovered. Forging a path into the underground, Ana Kefr have found their footing by pioneering a philosophical, freethinker-oriented message backed by outside-the-box, extreme progressive metal.
Ana Kefr's new release, The Burial Tree (II), reaffirms their belief in the integrity of art, as well as underlining their ability to do the unexpected, with 14 finely-crafted compositions of philosophical metal. This full-length follow-up to Volume 1 showcases the band's talents at weaving together a rich, multi-cultural and organic audio tapestry out of varied genres and sounds to create something fresh and truly different.
"It’s clear from the word 'go' that the very last thing they’re interested in is playing to singalong industry/scene expectation...In spite of the epic scope of the music, the songs are rooted firmly at street level. Ana Kefr never get lost in their own brilliance." - Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles
Ana Kefr banded mid-2008 with founding members Kyle Coughran and Rhiis D. Lopez, releasing their full-length debut mid-2009, Volume 1, via their imprint label Muse Sick. Performing with Exodus, Into Eternity, My Ruin, Taproot and Death by Stereo, the band released the single Tonight We Watch the Children Fucking Burn mid-2010 (Muse Sick). This single showcased the band's new members, featuring Shane Dawson on percussion, Alphonso Jimenez on bass and Brendan Moore on lead guitar. The band received multiple accolades for their work, Volume 1 named one of the best albums of 2009 by BW&BK, Blistering.com, Press Enterprise and Detritus, Tonight We Watch the Children Fucking Burn one of the best releases of 2010 by Blistering.com. Ana Kefr were active participants in the Atheist Alliance International 2009 Convention, as well as the 2010 Freethought Alliance Conference.
