Introducing The Fire Apes... Our original guitar-driven powerpop songs ring true with the sound of 1960s jangle pop; and there's often more behind those songs than what's obvious.

In March 2007 they were named the winner of the 5th Annual College of Charleston’s Battle of the Bands; and, more recently, named the winner of 96 Wave's Locals Only Live competition. Over the next few months, songs will be featured in two independent films: Back Soon from Guest House Films and The CT Poop from Road Dog Pictures. In January they were named the winner of the Net Music Maker’s Live Band competition and will be flown out to Sacramento for an all expense paid 5-day recording session at House of Hansen Productions.

In addition to airplay, "Hey Kate!", the first track on the current EP, has been featured on such podcasts as Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code, was featured on MyCoke.com in April 2007, and was included as a cd-insert in the June 2007 issue of Guitar World Magazine.

Biography: From Charleston, SC, The Fire Apes' lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist, John Seymour, often writes metaphorically about love, and relationships using literary references, musically framed with melodic hooks. His music and words can elicit feelings that range from joy and happiness to commiseration and longing.

The feel of the music is most commonly considered to be reminiscent of such bands as The Beatles, Green Day, Oasis, The Kinks, and The Pretenders. The Fire Apes understand what the British pop invasion was about and yet transcend the past and merge it with the future. Following their debut CD, "A Perfect Day for Bananafish", and their critically acclaimed sophomore effort, "Central Park Carousel", The Fire Apes have recently completed a new self-titled EP. The melody driven songs that have been the hallmark of The Fire Apes have become a bit more edgy and contemporary.
