KAT'S STORY Hi this is Kat here. Just wanted to tell you a bit about myself without sounding too formal. I have been in music ever since I can remember, but unlike most female artists, who establish themselves and then decide to start a family, I did it all back to front. I met my husband while touring Australia in 'The Rocky Horror Show'. I had my family really young, in my early twenties, which put a huge halt on my singing pursuits, even cancelling an international tour. Money was very tight, my husband worked nights and I had no family in Brisbane. Hiring a babysitter was often half the gig money so it wasn't worth it, so I didn't do many gigs. When my marriage broke up the girls and I lived on spam and mashed potato for months, and somehow I still managed to study jazz at the Queensland Conservatorium, and get a Bachelor's degree in Politics and Ethnomusicology (double major).

. While not being able to do massive amounts of gigs, I haven't been idle. I worked extensively in the jazz field both as teacher and compiler of 'The Female Vocal Real Book', (now out of print) known as 'the pink book' which was sold to many jazz conservatoria throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the U.S..

. So when people say, 'how come I haven't heard of you?' I say 'well any album money I had went on more important things'. It's takes money to be known as an independent artists and I didn't have it. But you get that, I have no regrets doing things this way and looking back now, I believe it was meant to work out like this. I have more to write about in my songs. Now my girls are old enough to allow me to do my own thing, and I can look at my established peers, smile and say 'your turn'. Dirty nappies, colic, sleepless nights.....

Have you ever put the things you love on the backburner for such a long time that when you ask yourself what do I really want to do with my life, that you can't answer it? You become unsettled, frustrated, angry because you can't find you niche, your life's mission? I did a finance seminar a few years ago, and although I'm not mega rich, the one thing I took away from that seminar was that if you want to succeed, you have to do whatever it takes..

So here I am, with a second mortgage on the house, mortgaged the kids, sold the grandmothers to do this album. Then as you make life-changing decisions, people who you thought were friends fall by the wayside and a new undergrowth of friends develop that accompany you on the next leg of your journey. It's hard, but worth it. People think that I'm distant, but I just don't get too close to people unless I know that they're going to be around for the long haul..

Zoltan is my biggest support and this album certainly wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for his love, support and belief in me, as well as the love and support of the band and my inner circle of friends..

. I have taught many of you over the years, either at TAFE, QUT or privately. Some of you may be reading this. If so, I would like to thank you - Zoltan, Dan, Dave, Emma, Robbie, Toby, Simmo, Madeleine, Deb, Wendy and many, many others who are all doing so well, for taking a piece of me on your musical journey..

The album, 'Don't Panic' is due out 2007. The really exciting things is we have had the honour of having the gorgeous and legendary Mr Mike Garson (David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt) playing three of the tracks. So please buy the album when it comes out, otherwise we might be living in a cardboard box, or better still, lobbing at one of your houses LOL.

There is a God. and He Has a Girlfriend. Living in Australia

Now imagine heavenly music that makes you feel good and you have just discovered Gods Girlfriend.

Sherman Oaks, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 14, 2007 -- Australian band Gods Girlfriend releases its first CD Don't Panic, in the United States after a similar release this past July in Australia.
Headed by lead singer and song writer Katrina (Kat) Alberts, who brings a fresh style to her jazz-pop sound with straight forward lyrics that forces the listener to sit up and take notice of what she is saying through her music.

This is Alberts second run at the music business, having been a part of the Australian touring company of 'The Rocky Horror Show,' while in her twenties. Alberts met her husband while on tour, got married, had a family, and put her music career on hold. When her marriage dissolved, Alberts was forced to do whatever it took to provide for her three young daughters while attending Queensland Conservatorium, where she studied jazz. Alberts also attend the University of New England, Armidale and earned a bachelor's degree in politics.

As Kat says in her bio "I mortgaged the kids, took a second on the house and sold grandma, to finance this CD." Alberts feels she is once again ready to hit the music scene with her own style and brand of music.

Don't Panic was produced by Zoltan Campbell who also plays bass for the group. This CD is recorded on the Ridiculous Records label, an independent record company in Australia. Through a series of connections in the jazz world, Alberts managed to convince world renowned pianist Mike Garson of David Bowie fame, to lend his grand piano to the recording. He is heard on three tracks; Children, Miracle and Dweller. This makes for a higher caliber of music with an established artist like Garson mixing his talent into this project. Garson is quoted as saying that gods girlfriend was '...one of my favorite collaborations.'

Kat Alberts and her band have created a highly stylized collection of songs that are both melodic but still have an adult contemporary edge with just a bit of jazz thrown in to the mix for a totally unique musical experience.

Don't Panic is available through CDBaby.com, iTunes, Napster, and a dozen other downloadable sites on the Internet.
