Shelby Nelson is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer based in Toronto, Ontario.

Starting on the drums at the age of nine and moving his way to the guitar by the age of twelve, Shelby began honing his performing and writing skills in his childhood band 'The Want Ads' which he was the drummer, singer, and co-songwriter. He also played drums for his high-school vocal and traditional jazz groups. He was fortunate enough to be able to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland at the age of 16 where he was surrounded by such mammoth talents as James Brown and Tony Bennett.

Since moving to Toronto from Regina in 1998 he has recorded and independently released two full-length albums and three EPs as well as performed live with bands and as a solo guitarist in many venues within the GTA. His newest album, 'Stars To Sail By', is by far his most solid and commercial effort. The songs on this album have a very 'British' sound to them as some of his biggest influences come from the UK such as The Beatles, Oasis, Genesis, Underworld, The Verve, and Supertramp. With this new album Shelby is looking for song placements in movies and television and/or a distribution deal with a record label of interest.
