2005 proved to be a great year for Matt Wilson.

In March, Matt released his highly anticipated third CD, Revolving Doors (itunes.com). Produced and recorded by Grammy Award winner Scott Matthews at Tiki Town Studios in San Francisco, Revolving Doors is by far Matt’s best record.

In April, Matt was honored by the Texas State Senate for his achievements in fine arts.

Summer 2005 brought an end to his run with the national tour of Movin Out. After a a short break he began working on his new show, “My Baby Grand”.

“I’ve always wanted to do a show that incorporates all of the great rock-n-roll and pop piano players. There are more than enough great guitarist in rock-n-roll. In comparison, the piano legends are few and far between.”

“My Baby Grand” will begin touring in 2006.

Like many other renowned Texas performers, Matt Wilson began his career playing and singing in the church his father pastored. And, like those historical forces before him, he discovered very early the undeniable attraction of rock-n-roll. Likewise, Broadway’s Iron Mountain Productions discovered the undeniably attractive power of Matt Wilson and cast him as one of their lead piano/vocalists for the touring company of the smash hit musical Movin Out . Movin’ Out is the two-time Tony Award winning Broadway show featuring the songs of Billy Joel and the choreography and conceptualization of the noteable Twyla Tharp.

After several rounds of nationwide open call auditions, Matt landed the roll performing center stage for the tour that launched in January, 2004.

Born in 1973, a University of Texas at Austin Journalism grad of 1996, Matt left Austin to play piano and sing at Walt Disney World. In 1998 he left Disney to devote his time to singing and songwriting. "I performed five nights a week for two years to a packed house every night to people from all over the world. The two year gig at Disney was like getting my master's degree in rock-n-roll performance."

Matt toured from 1998 to 2003 performing everywhere from the Pacific Northwest, to the Midwest and down the East Coast. During those years he and his band had many great opportunities including opening for the Little River Band and Hall and Oates. They even traveled to Sydney, Australia to perform during the 2000 Olympic Games for worldwide Olympic sponsor, John Hancock.

"Playing during the 2000 Olympics in Sydney was amazing. The energy and excitement was riveting. The experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Now, with 3 CD’s under his belt, Matt, 30, has experienced working with the likes of producer/percussionist Crystal Taliefero (of Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, John Cougar Mellencamp), Steven Bruton (of Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, and Delbert McClinton), and Grammy award-winning producer, Spencer Starnes (of Asleep at the Wheel and Junior Brown).

2002 was a banner year for Matt. In January, he formed Matt Wilson Entertainment. Two months later, he met with Taliefero while she was on the road with Billy Joel to record the single "Famous" under Rock Star Music. She recruted Billy’s band to play and she produced it.

"Recording with Billy Joel's band was a dream for me. The band is incredible. It's unbelievable how much energy they put out in the studio. The proof is on the track."

Matt now lives in Austin with his two dogs, Belle and Annie.
