The funky R&B boo-yah! of Ray Davon's musical self-expression is among the great wonders of the world. Shining a heartfelt spark of creativity rarely seen in the modern music biz, Davon opens up a well of passion and talent that results in gripping and emotionally charged songs that hook the listener with a quickness!
The Zone
Music is the source of its own special realm of existence. To get lost in music is to find one's self in a distinct and special world. “Music to me is like 'the zone' of a pro athlete,” says Davon. “When I'm sad, I write; when I'm happy, I write. I'm in a place where you get in touch with your inner soul and mind.” And by exploring his inner soul and mind and bringing it to the surface in his songs, Davon is able to touch the hearts and spirits of his listeners.
Grooves and More
Davon will be the first person to admit the vital importance of grooves, especially to such hook-laden genres as funk and rhythm-and-blues. But the music must move beyond the mere groove and the lush melody. Behind all that beauty there must be a focused intelligence the music must speak to spirit and flesh alike. “I'm inspired,” says Davon, “by anything that moves my mind and my body, something that tells a story.” It's this human touch that truly distinguishes Davon's songwriting.
The Artist at Work
Davon has seen three of his songs find placement in movies for Disney and Touchstone Pictures. He was the producer, co-writer and arranger of R&B artist Erik Cole's 2002 debut album “Do You Feel.” Hitting the streets soon will be Davon's own debut CD, on which he played guitar, piano, drums and bass and sang vocals. Davon is currently working with the hottest, indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA, A&R Select.
