Geoff Westen’s Power Pop Tale, Vidiots—TUNE
IN! Available on Disturbing Music March 25
LOS ANGELES CA, February 11, 2008—Geoff Westen’s, Power Pop
tunes-de-force, Vidiots—TUNE IN!! will be released by Disturbing Music
on March 25. The songs incorporate the scope of Pop and Rock styles
Westen has performed over his career, and showcases his signature Wall
of Pop sound.
Reviewers and fans alike, respond to Westen’s neo-retro sound, citing
influences from the ‘80s to the present. Rockers and dancers like
“Better Get Started,” “Angry Young Man,” and the wry “Friend or Lover,”
or the wistful and sensitive ballads “She’s So Young,” and “Searching
For Love,” reflect adventures in the eccentric yet sophisticated life of
a career artist and performer.
Vidiots—TUNE IN!!, Geoff Westen’s fourth album on his Disturbing Music
label, and the follow-up to The Pigs—OINK! take his arrangements and
production one step beyond. The Pigs—OINK! made the Hybrid Magazine list
as one their “2006 Up and Coming Favorites,” and was named one of the
Top 25 Indie CDs of 2007 by Indie-Music.com among armfuls of other
stellar reviews for the joyful pop-rock collection.
“I’m the original Vidiot,” Westen laughingly comments. “’Better Get
Started” was written as a self-motivating message after a lengthy
self-imposed break from music spent in a dark, monitor-filled room. I
needed to reemerge into the human race. ‘BGS’ is my message to all other
Vidiots—SHUT DOWN, WAKE UP and TUNE IN!!”
Westen was aided on Vidiots—TUNE IN!! by several musical friends
including Davey Johnstone (Elton John), Jefferson Kewley (Neil Diamond)
and Lewie Goldsmith (The Pigs) on guitars, Dennis Conway (Alice Cooper)
on drums, saxes by Richard Elliott on “Action Man,” and The Heart Attack
Horns on “Don’t Stop the Kiss.”

Biography: Geoff Westen has a long history in music and
design, working on scores of projects with hundreds of musicians and
talented artists in all fields. He apprenticed his musical craft with
pop music masters in the studio, on television and on the road. His
apprenticeship took on many forms - owning a recording studio where he
worked with artists as diverse as David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Dr. John; on
the road with his own bands and top commercial pop artists; and on
television as house band on a network television show.
Westen's style is a life-long amalgam of pop influences. He laughs at
the comparisons heaped on his music. "I understand why people want to
compare you to some other artist or band as a point of reference, but it
really gets ridiculous. If I showed you the list of 'whom Geoff sounds
like,' you would be amazed. It's a diverse group ranging from Oingo
Boingo to The Killers to Chromeo. Wow! But, I'm not griping about it.
It's great that everyone hears something different. It means if you're
into rock 'n roll, you should be able to find something you like about
my music - and that's what I'm striving for."
Rock veteran Westen has spent a whole lot of years involved in the
production and performance of music. You can hear this wealth of
experience; you can hear the maturity in his "wall of pop" arrangements
and production style. It's what sets him apart. For more on Geoff Westen
