Year 2008 (Los Angeles, CA) -- Orpheos Dejournette, one of the most versatile live-electronic music producers for his genre is releasing his new Ep “Revolving Illusions”. The Ep contains 4 tracks of down tempo trip-hop foundation beats with melodic rock, reggae, and haunting hypnotic soul stirring. Fusing all of his very own instrument playing, vocals, and personally developed production style and with 35 CD releases and over 50 vinyl releases under his belt, Orpheos has single handedly written, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered his new songs.

Starting out in the Gothic 80's era dedicated to the worship of Bauhaus and then becoming one half of The Mephisto Odyssey (1991-2002) has helped to sculpt him into the Artist/Producer he is today. His music has lended itself well to both the commercial and underground music and film scenes and most recenty found itself into the feature film "Hostel" produced by Quentin Tarantino.

Influences by the likes of Depeche Mode, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack and Nine Inch Nails, Orpheos sees himself as an artist who has studied the works of his influences in the way a scientist studies a new species. “I've always marveled at how they produce their music and keep their fans so dedicated to them,” he explains. “Personally, when I write my songs, I visualize a scenario, movie or play in which my music sets the mood for the stage. In my minds eye I can see the audience's reaction and I calculate my sonic tension and release based on how I see the peoples' emotional response. This is where the sonic seduction begins.

In the early 90's Orpheos with his former writing partner Mikeal Johnston, formed The Mephisto Odyssey and were signed to Warner Brothers Records. The deal resulted in releasing the criticlly acclaimed "The Deep Red Connection" album. The Mephisto Odyssey were among the most innovative and influential electronic groups of their generation. “I attempt to lure people into my songs,” Orpheos says. “It is an annoyingly tediously process I go through to craft production tricks that I don't commonly hear in most contemporary artist music these days.

Orpheos has officially remixed bands and artists such as Jane's Addiction, Static-X and Soul Coughing to name a few. His music visionary soundscapes have also been used for numerous MTV shows.

Biography:  Bay Area producer Orpheos DeJournette stands poised to write the next chapter in a revelatory musical journey with the release of his first solo Ep, Revolving Illusions. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Orpheos first broke ground as co-founder of West Coast dance pioneers, Mephisto Odyssey, enjoying both popular and critical accolades long before electronic music had hit the mainstream. Now with Revolving Illusions, Orpheos has delivered even more forward thinking music that is at once dark, powerful, beautifully melodic and utterly now - a stunning postmodern rock-electronica Ep for the passionate masses.

Transfixed at an early age by Queen, Hendrix, and Bauhaus, Orpheos displayed a protean ability to absorb influences into his own unique musical identity. It wasn't until UK acid house landed on West Coast shores though, that the most profound epiphany occurred. "My jaw dropped", Orpheos notes of his first underground rave. "There was no social pressure, just people dancing and freaking out". This new dance culture spawned a communal, egalitarian environment that encouraged mutual respect, the sharing of ideas, and sonic experimentation on a level previously unknown to the young musician.

The impact was so strong that he immediately began producing tracks as one half of Mephisto Odyssey. Combining futuristic breakbeats, jazz, funk, and tripped-out atmospherics in a 21st century groove stew, Mephisto's presence on the burgeoning scene was so potent that they became the first electronica act to be signed to Warner Bros. US.

After a string of seminal original productions made their mark on dancefloors and in afterhours parties worldwide, the group was chosen to remix the Jane's Addiction's comeback single, "So What". The four Mephisto remixes charted on Billboard's maxi-singles chart for six weeks and remain the only remixes ever sanctioned by Jane's Addiction. A slew of remix work for Static-X, Los Amigos Invisibles, and Soul Coughing followed, and Mephisto tracks appeared in the full-length animated feature Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker, MTV's I Want A Famous Face and the Quentin Tarantino-produced Hostel.

Never one to remain content with past achievement, Orpheos amicably left Mephisto to begin work on his solo artist career. Four years in the making, the new Ep and upcoming Album of his new material infused with shockingly original production work, as the producer has meticulously and single handedly written, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered every song and created each sound and vocal from scratch while honing them into a stellar collection of songs that are at home both in the club and on the radio.

The Ep possesses a sense of craft and an individuality sorely lacking in most contemporary music. That said, listeners will note hints of Massive Attack, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd supercharged with a groove-oriented attack that is immediately accessible, but, ultimately, unique to Orpheos alone.

One thing is clear from listening to the Ep, it's all about the power of sound and purity of expression informed by a lifetime of musical obsession. As Orpheos himself says, "Your ego won't ensure any kind of success. It has to be you playing true from your heart".
