“Orphan Train Project - surprising twists and turns, I think they have got their pulse on the next thing.” Listeners captivated by the complex pop structures and intricate layers of Orphan Train Project often mistakenly assume they are listening to a band. What they hear is a snapshot of a musical journey that I began fifteen years ago in the hills above Adelaide, South Australia. First records were made on almost busted tape decks on a bedroom floor. I have carried the boxes of tapes with me always. Even now, they sit a meter to my left as I am writing this. Years passed. I lived in different places. Tape decks became 4 tracks which in turn became sequencers. The sounds have changed with time, but my songs still tell the details of the things I have seen, done and dreamed about. There is no angst or spoon fed resolutions, just the details of what happened. I believe in music that is simultaneously simple and complex, free from genre, innovative and distinctive. Musically, Orphan Train Project worships at the alter of perfect pop, with elements of minimalist electronica, folk, shoegazer and punk amongst the congregation. Current influences include organic / electronic pioneers such as Pinback, Folk Implosion, Arab Strap, Yo La Tengo and Four Tet.
