Zwish have been described as “Avril Lavigne without the prozac”, "what Hole would be if Courtney Love hadn't gone crazy", or "a punk version of the Rogue Traders". More astute fans have said "live they are the sound of two angry people having sex". All these statements contain some element of truth.
zwish was formed in Canberra, Australia in 2004, and after a few false starts and line up changes, the current line up has been happily together since August 2006.
The five members, Leah (vocals 23), Sam (guitar vocals 19), Bryn (guitar 27), Rob (bass 27) & Tom (Drums 20), are drawn together by the desire to write and play music that means something to them. Something they can feel and something they can relate too, not homogenised sanitised versions of music that leaves them feeling nothing.
2007 has been an exciting time for Zwish:
" They played a number of 2nd tier festivals, Rock the Bowl & The Canberra Band Explosion,
" They had over 40,000 mp3 plays from zwish.net so far 2007,
" They had over 16,000 visitors to zwish.net so far 2007,
" Watched their fan base on myspace grow from 2000 at the begining of the year to over 5000 by May
" They had over 2000 views of the video clip for “Wonderful Life” on Youtube in its first week, before being taken down for a little too much nudity, and
" Had songs off their CD “Sleepwalker” played on 40 different radio stations in Australia.
The rest 2007 promises to be an exciting time with plans for recording a new CD, more video clips and a regional tour
